The Doorways' mission is to provide lodging and support for patients and their loved ones who need to be close to the hospital, but not far from the feeling of "home." For over 40 years, The Doorways has housed over 175,000 people from around the country receiving treatment at Richmond-area healthcare providers. Commercial banker, Simeon Harris, serves as The Doorways' trusted financial partner and provides guidance as they carry out their community services.
“Simeon is very involved in our mission,” says Shawn Walker, CFO. “He attends our special events, he knows what we do, he knows our business, and he adjusts services to meet those needs."
"We are always looking for ways to improve and if there are things that make more sense for us, Simeon will be the first one to bring it to the table," continues Stacy Brinkley, CEO. “TowneBank's mantra of serving others and enriching lives is so similar to what we do here every day. I think that really played into our selection of Towne as our banking partner since they also want to serve the community and be a part of what we do."
Based in Richmond, The Doorways facility provides 117 private rooms with baths and shared facilities including fully stocked kitchens, pantries, family dining rooms, TV lounges, a library, a chapel, a fitness room, 24-hour laundry, plus dedicated floors for pediatric and transplant guests. Founded in 1983 (formerly as the Hospital Hospitality House of Richmond), The Doorways is Richmond's premier provider of temporary lodging and non-medical services to patients and their families referred through Richmond-area hospital partners. Since opening, The Doorways has housed more than 175,000 people, averaging about 10,000 guests annually.
