Phillips & Peters, PLLC — A Private Banking Member
Helping you move forward. That is the philosophy of Kimberly H. Phillips and Corrynn J. Peters, co-founders of the family law firm Phillips & Peters, PLLC. The firm and its staff believe that the key to representing a person who is struggling through a difficult and changing family dynamic is to help them move forward through the trying time and aid them in moving in the right direction.
Phillips & Peters PLLC opened in 2010 and the co-founders immediately agreed upon TowneBank for a business loan. “We were familiar with TowneBank and knew it was a local, homegrown business that had a reputation for excellent customer service,” shares Kim. “I walked into the downtown Norfolk office without an appointment and asked if I could speak with someone about a business loan.” That was the day Kim met Judy Barrett, Senior Vice President and Private Banking Officer and it was the beginning of what Philips & Peters call “a wonderful relationship with TowneBank.”
TowneBank and Philips & Peters share a philosophy of community leadership and service and helping people move forward. Kim added that they were looking to have a competent, professional and local bank that they could trust, and they found it with TowneBank.
“Throughout the years, I’ve partnered with Phillips & Peters to deliver solutions for their growing business needs, including loans and accepting payments with merchant services,” says Judy Barrett. “My mission is helping Phillips & Peters be able to deliver their mission – Helping You Move Forward”.
Phillips & Peters, PLLC was especially grateful to Judy for her help acquiring funding through the complex Paycheck Protection Program – due to the Coronavirus health pandemic. “True to the TowneBank mission, they provided a sense of belonging and showed a genuine interest in our business’s well-being,” says Kimberly Phillips. Judy helped Phillips & Peters navigate the entire process successfully.
Both Kimberly and Corrynn expressed that one of the best parts of owning their own firm is the team that they have put together to serve their clients. Both value mentoring young attorneys – helping and teaching them to “become ethical attorneys who can serve our community.” We enjoy seeing their successes, and value the relationships we have built with them,” says Corrynn.
Phillips & Peters, values their clients, their team of ethical attorneys and their banking relationship with TowneBank. Together we are serving our community in positive ways.

More About Kimberly H. Phillips, Corrynn J. Peters, and Phillips & Peters, PLLC
Kimberly H. Phillips and Corrynn J. Peters both had worked at a full service law firm in Chesapeake after graduating from Regent University Law School, and both wanted to make a difference in their community through the practice of law. Corrynn mentioned that they “wanted to grow their own practice exclusively in the area of family law.”
At Phillips & Peters, PLLC, the focus is on the practice of domestic relations law, including divorces, adoptions, custody and visitation issues, child and spousal support, protective orders and wills. The attorneys also deal with the unique considerations faced by military service members and their spouses. According to Kim, “sometimes people get stuck; they are treading water and don’t know what to do. We have to be sensitive to that and make sure we are hearing them and helping them. Obviously, we are dealing with the legal aspect of their concern, but we also offer some emotional support.” Corrynn adds that, as family law attorneys, they “live in other people’s turmoil every single day. It’s not an easy job, but when you have helped a client through the turmoil, and he or she is appreciative of what we’ve done for them, that makes it all worthwhile.”
