Meet Ty Crone, SVP & Private Banking Officer
Ty Crone, has more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry, serving the Central Virginia area, including Richmond, VA. In this interview, you will get to know Ty and Private Banking at TowneBank.
Q: What exactly is Private Banking?
A: At TowneBank, Private Banking is taking personal care of members who need or can benefit from access to a breadth of financial services—from cash management and lending to insurance and wealth management with experienced bankers who are always accessible.
Q: How does Private Banking help our members?
A: Private Banking relationships develop based on need. These members often need a wide array of financial services. It creates fulfilling relationships and makes the experience more efficient for our members.
Q: What differentiates TowneBank from other banks?
A: Other banks, based on a tax return or balance sheet, can limit the clients’ access to bankers. TowneBank places members into Private Banking based on their needs and creates a relationship with a dedicated banker, regardless of one or two numbers on a specific document.
Q: If someone were debating between banking at TowneBank and another bank, why should they choose TowneBank?
A: At TowneBank, we truly differentiate ourselves from other banks and bankers through very personal, high-touch member service. Deposit accounts, loans, and mortgages, for example, are products that all banks can provide. TowneBank provides the time and expertise to develop and implement custom solutions and deliver them with exquisite service. It is unmatched in our footprint.
Q: Describe a time when you helped a member out of a difficult situation or helped to solve a problem for them.
A: We are a very nimble financial institution, not bogged down by the bureaucracy of other banks our size or bigger. Recently, some issues outside of both TowneBank and my member’s control created a delay in underwriting a loan used for a significant acquisition. The delay was threatening the acquisition, and TowneBank stepped up for the member to provide a bridge loan as an interim solution to ensure closing remained on time. We were able to quickly pivot to a temporary solution, enhancing the relationship in ways we certainly did not have to, but in which we felt was doing the right thing for the member.
Q: What is your favorite thing about what you do?
A: I work with friends and acquaintances to help make a positive financial difference in their personal or business lives. This creates a sense of community. Aggregate our Private Bankers in Richmond, or all the Private Bankers across the entire TowneBank footprint, and we have positively impacted our communities in so many ways. That is extremely satisfying.
Q: What are three traits that define TowneBank?
A: Community, Charitable, Friendships
Q: Name something you have learned from one of your members.
A: How impactful the TowneBank community involvement and financial support has been since our emergence in the Richmond market. It is the first thing new potential members mention: “I see all you have done and continue to do in our community, in both the good economy and bad.”
