Civic 50
Guiding the Way for Corporate Citizenship

Points of Light, an international nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, started the Civic 50 in 2012 to recognize the 50 most community-minded companies in the nation. The program serves as a benchmarking tool and platform for sharing best practices in the corporate citizenship sector. Activate Good, an affiliate of Points of Light, introduced the Civic 50 Greater Triangle as a tool for companies in the region to report and assess their Corporate Social Responsibility practices.
TowneBank is proud to be honored among other civic minded businesses in the first Greater Triangle Civic 50. To be considered, honorees took an extensive survey administered by TrueImpact. The survey instrument consists of quantitative and multiple-choice questions that inform the scoring process and is the only survey and ranking system that exclusively measures corporate community engagement. The self-reported assessment included four dimensions: investment of resources, integration across business functions, institutionalization through policies and systems, and impact measurement.
In October, TowneBank celebrated alongside the other honorees at an awards breakfast at the Raleigh Marriott City Center. Brian Reid, president of TowneBank Triangle, said, “The opportunity to be among the inaugural Civic 50 honorees for the Greater Triangle spoke to us. We take our role as a community asset and a corporate steward to heart. We are thankful to Points of Light and Activate Good for spotlighting civic responsibility. It is a fitting complement to the TowneBank focus on serving others and enriching lives.”
