Congratulations to Cheryl McLeskey, who was named the 71st First Citizen of Virginia Beach! Cheryl serves on the TowneBank Virginia Beach board and is president and CEO of McLeskey, one of the region's largest real estate developers and property managers, founded by her late husband Wayne over 60 years ago.
Cheryl is well-known for her dedication to making a difference throughout Hampton Roads, serving on the boards of several organizations in addition to TowneBank, including the Military Aviation Museum, the Navy SEAL Museum, the Neptune Festival, Operation Blessing, and the Sentara Brock Cancer Center, which is home to the McLeskey Comprehensive Breast Center.
The First Citizen award is a lifetime achievement award that recognizes an individual who has devoted his or her life to improving, uplifting, and moving Virginia Beach forward. Each year, the Virginia Beach Jaycees look for someone who embodies the belief that service to humanity is the best work of life. Cheryl McLeskey certainly is an excellent example of this model of lifelong service. The Towne family joins in congratulating her on this well-deserved honor.
