TowneBank is a longtime supporter of Day of Caring, a national event through the United Way that collaborates with volunteers, advocates, and donors across 1,100 communities. In the fall of 2023, TowneBank helped coordinate and recruit volunteers to serve 14 nonprofit agencies across our footprint in North Carolina and Virginia.
The Towne family in Wilmington joined hands with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina (CENC) for their annual day of service. The Food Bank of CENC serves 34 counties and close to 590,000 people annually, including 183,850 children. A group of 20 volunteers came together to sort and package food items and donations at the Food Bank’s brand new facility located downtown.
“The day-to-day work of volunteers and donors is what keeps the food bank’s doors open and serving those in need," said Daniel Evans, mortgage loan officer and this year’s volunteer coordinator. “Our Towne family joined together to do our part our part to combat the existing and ongoing meal gap in our community.”
In Greenville, Towne family members focused on furry friends in need. The team came together to collect donations for Pitt County Animal Services. Items included kibble and cat food, treats, cleaning supplies, and even a few fun toys. Katherine Thomas, banking officer and relationship specialist, coordinated the donation drive and said, “We were so excited to drop off items at the shelter. We definitely made some dogs and cats happy with our goodies!”
