New Men's Facility Provides Dignity and Hope

Charlotte Rescue Mission (CRM) is in the final stages of completing its new men’s facility that will increase the organization's capacity to provide dignity and respect for the people it serves. The initiative is aimed at making a life-changing impact on men facing homelessness and addiction.
CRM broke ground in 2022 on the new facility that will provide residential substance abuse recovery programs at no cost. Construction is set to finish this spring and the building will be move-in ready by summer, allowing CRM to serve an additional 100 men annually. In addition to accommodating more residents, the new facility will be fully accessible for people with disabilities with updated dormitories, dining halls, and more.
“Through this initiative, we aim to create a facility filled with hope, dignity, and respect. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those in need,” says Tony Marciano, President and CEO of Charlotte Rescue Mission.
The facility is an extension of CRM’s men’s Rebound campus, located uptown at 907 West First Street. “Our location is central to those who need our services most,” says Robbie McLaughlin, marketing and communications manager at CRM. “Being uptown and in the heart of Charlotte allows us to serve as a beacon of hope for our clients and our city.”
The building was made possible through CRM’s capital campaign, Miracle at Cedar Street, which aimed to raise $40 million through private and corporate support. Through the Pave the Way brick campaign, the Charlotte community purchased bricks to be laid at the new facility. “The bricks are personalized with a message or name and will be visible by all who step foot on our campus. The campaign offered a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations to make a tangible difference in the lives of those seeking recovery and a fresh start,” says Robbie.
In addition to supporting the capital campaign, TowneBank was excited to provide the loan necessary to help complete the expansion through commercial banker and longtime relationship manager Will Bishop. "Charlotte Rescue Mission has served our community since 1938, bringing hope and wholeness to people struggling with addiction and homelessness,” says Ted Wolfe, President of TowneBank Charlotte. “We are proud to expand our role as a financial partner to Charlotte Rescue Mission, where they are serving others and enriching lives daily.”
