Paul Simson, executive vice president and senior risk advisor for Towne Insurance in Raleigh, is continuing his long, successful career as an award-winning golfer. A two-time U.S. Senior Amateur champion, winning in 2010 and 2012, Paul is one of just 14 players to win the title on multiple occasions. In 2010, he became the first person to win the British Senior Am, the Canadian Senior Am, and the U.S. Senior Am in the same year, accomplishing this record in 55 days. 2010 was also the year Paul was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
He has played in 58 USGA championships and nine USGA Men’s State Teams. He ranks third in career match-play victories. He is a 46-time champion of Carolinas Golf Association events. In August 2024, at age 73, he was the oldest player to compete in the U.S. Senior Am held at the Honors Course in Tennessee. Paul began playing golf at age 10 and played through high school and at the University of New Mexico. A native of New Jersey, he has called North Carolina home for more than four decades.
“Golf brings out the best in people, whether you’re playing well or playing poorly. There is an aura of sportsmanship and camaraderie that permeates in the amateur games. Everyone understands the work that it takes to become good at the game.”
Congratulations Paul!
