United Way of South Hampton Roads
2023 Volunteer of the Year
SHARE
This year, the United Way of South Hampton Roads celebrates 100 years of bringing people and resources together to solve critical problems in our region. The organization was founded in 1923 as “The Community Fund” and has since grown and adapted to continually meet the needs of our community, from disaster relief and health emergencies, to addressing ongoing problems like food insecurity, poverty, and homelessness.
At the Centennial Celebration, held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in May, the United Way highlighted the amazing history of the organization and plans for continued success. Allie Wittkamp, senior vice president and director of marketing communications at TowneBank, was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year, an annual award that recognizes one outstanding individual for their unique contributions to the United Way’s mission and dedication to the annual campaign.
Allie has served as the employee giving campaign leader for TowneBank for the past five years. Under her leadership, TowneBank has continued to serve as a pacesetter campaign, helping to motivate other companies in Hampton Roads. The campaign consistently surpasses its annual goal and averages 75% participation, the highest among same-size companies in the region. “Allie is the true definition of a servant leader,” says Kelsey Mohring, chief marketing and strategy officer at the United Way of SHR. “Her contributions are truly invaluable and critical to our mission to create a brighter future for everyone in Hampton Roads.”
Congratulations from your Towne family, Allie, and thank you to all of our employee campaign leaders throughout North Carolina and Virginia! Learn more about the United Way of South Hampton Roads at: UnitedWaySHR.org.
