Congratulations to TowneBank Norfolk president Charity Volman-Winn who recently received two awards for both her professional impact and her dedication to volunteer work.
Inside Business recognized Charity among its 2022 Women in Business honorees. The magazine has recognized women in business in Hampton Roads for 20 years, celebrating women for their professional successes, contributions to the community, and leadership of the next generation. Here is an excerpt from the magazine article about Charity:
At work: I manage all aspects of the TowneBank Norfolk region, including our retail, commercial, and private banking divisions.
Motivating factor: I love working with nonprofits, especially those where I feel I can help them further their mission.
Advice for women in business: Compromise is important, but don’t settle. Stay true to yourself. Know your worth. Operate with the utmost integrity.
Professional goal in five years: I’ve achieved so many of my professional aspirations that in five years I want to be doing things that make a meaningful difference to others.
VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads chose Charity for their Best of Board award for her work with the d’Art Center where she serves as board chair. As Tricia Hudson, d’Art Center executive director describes it, “Charity is a longtime supporter of the d’Art Center and is an avid art collector. She brings her business acumen, financial resources, and leadership/networking skills to the organization and board. Charity is always strategizing on how to make things better. Charity is a ray of sunshine to this non-profit and many others. We could not do what we do without her leadership.”
Charity sums up her perspective on volunteering this way: “Some of my most rewarding moments are when I am working with the nonprofits that I love. I do it not for the recognition, of course, but because I want to make a difference.” Your Towne family is very proud of you, Charity, for all the good work you do for Towne and the Hampton Roads community.
