Compassionately Caring for the Triangle

Dr. Bhavani Lagadapati dreamed of being a physician ever since she was a young girl growing up in India. Her father, who battled various medical ailments throughout his life, was her inspiration to pursue the profession. Dr. Lagadapati knew that she wanted to help others like her father and was able to gain acceptance into a highly competitive medical school.
Upon completing her medical training in India, Dr. Lagadapati and her husband moved to Jamaica - West Indies, where she worked in a wide variety of medical specialties, including Emergency Medicine.
She served as Chief Resident for the Department of Internal Medicine at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York and was accepted into fellowship training in Pulmonary Medicine, Cardiology, and Gastroenterology, but ultimately chose to pursue a career in Primary Care, a specialty that desperately needs more doctors. According to a recent study by the Association of American Medical Colleges, the U.S. could see an estimated shortage of between 21,400 and 55,200 primary care physicians by 2033.
With the goal of creating a new home for her family and serving a community of patients, Dr. Lagadapati and her family moved to the Triangle in 2007, excited to live in such a vibrant and growing community. Other factors that drew them to the area included good schools, warm weather, and friendly people.
It was important to Dr. Lagadapati to have her own practice so that she was able to be independent of larger healthcare organizations and control the priorities of her own team. She created Carolina Primary Care in Morrisville, with a mission of “Comprehensive Care with Compassion."
She and her team specialize in internal medicine and general family medicine for adults, including annual physical exams; preventative care and diagnostics; sick visits for acute illnesses like flu, cold, sinus infections, and sore throats; immunizations; and women's health care and screenings.
Dr. Lagadapati also offers more specialized care, including assisting patients with weight loss, smoking cessation, and chronic illness management, as well as diabetes education and nutrition counseling. They were also some of the first to offer COVID-19 testing in the Triangle area early in the pandemic.
Dr. Lagadapati prioritizes taking her time with individual patients and being as involved in their care as possible. She notes, “I enjoy my work of being a healthcare provider attending to the needs of my patients. Every day I try to look back and ensure that every patient got the attention they needed and required.”
Dr. Lagadapati shares that she is able to take such comprehensive care of her patients in part because of her decade-long relationship with TowneBank. People like commercial banking officer Craig Poms have helped Carolina Primary Care grow, and in turn provide a higher level of care for community members throughout the Triangle.
Carolina Primary Care is located at 101 Lattner Court, Morrisville, NC 27560 and is accepting new patients. Visit CarolinaPrimaryCareNC.com to learn more.
