TowneBank Celebrates Opening of Cary Downtown Banking Center

TowneBank celebrated the grand opening of its 51st banking center, located on Walnut Street across from Downtown Cary Park, at an event on May 2, 2024.

An audience of nearly 100 people enjoyed remarks from Brian Reid, president of TowneBank Triangle; Matt Davis, president and regional banking director for TowneBank in North Carolina; Patsy Johnson, TowneBank regional president for Cary; Jennifer Robinson, Mayor pro tem for the Town of Cary; and Cary Chamber president Mark Lawson.

This is the second location for TowneBank in Cary. “We were looking for the right opportunity to grow and enhance our presence in Cary,” said Patsy Johnson. “The revitalized focus on downtown opened the door for us to open a banking center in the heart of it all.

Commercial real estate firm Lee & Associates owns the two-story building and moved their headquarters there in June 2023. This thoughtfully designed space with unique glass features and architectural masonry recently was honored by CoStar as Commercial Development of the Year for Raleigh. At the bank entrance stands a mixed media sculpture of metal and glass created by Virginia Beach-based artist and TowneBank director Matt Fine.

TowneBank is known for its high-touch banking services, with financial professionals available and accessible to businesses and individuals when and where they are needed. Branch manager Brian Laughlin joined TowneBank in 2023 to oversee this location and hand-selected the bankers who serve our members here. Mortgage loan officer Jane Hartsock of TowneBank Mortgage is also onsite, and there is additional space where Patsy and local commercial bankers can meet with members.

TowneBank’s commitment to the community extends beyond expanding to this space and the hiring of local professionals. In keeping with the bank’s tradition of giving back, TowneBank presented a charitable donation to Miracle League of the Triangle, which provides children with special needs the opportunity to take part in America’s favorite pastime – baseball – and started on a field in Cary in 2006.

TowneBank is committed to serving others and enriching lives in the neighborhoods we serve, and we have a special relationship with the Town of Cary,” added Patsy Johnson. “We are proud to support organizations that have an immediate and longstanding impact on the well-being of individuals living nearby and in the greater Triangle area.”
